Biography
André Guichard is a self taught artist who had the privilege of being exposed to art through the eyes of his father who painted throughout his childhood. He was also influenced by his cousin, the late great ?outsider artist,? William Dawson.
André Guichard?s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Chicago, Atlanta and Texas areas. These exhibits include Gallery Thirty Nine 17, The Canal Group Ltd. in Houston, Texas, Aaron Galleries in downtown Chicago, the Chicago Black Fine Art Exposition ?Color? hosted by Oprah Winfrey, the 2000 Heritage Arts Festival in Atlanta, Around The Coyote Art Festival, Annie Lee Art Gallery, Art Werks Art Gallery, United Way UMOJA Art Auction, Gallery 1633, South Side Community Art Center 33rd and 34th Annual Art Auctions, 21st & 22nd annual Chicago Jazz festival ?Art Fair?, the Annual Art Against Aids Celebrity Art Auctions, and Resonance Incorporated?s semi-annual ?Treasures to Cherish? Art exhibits. Mr. Guichard has been featured in live interviews on ?Around Town Saturday Night? Cable channel 50 WUPN with Jean Sparrow (May 6, 2000) and ?Around Town? WGN Channel Nine Morning Show (July 23, 1998). He was also the featured artist at the 1999 ?Salute To Black Presidents? Black tie affair sponsored by the 10th annual Black Expo Committee and the featured artist at the 1999 Mayors reception to the Black Expo. Mr. Guichard has a permanent installation in the Bronzeville ?Jazz? McDonalds featuring six images from Guichard?s ?Jazz Series.?
Andre Guichard is a Teachers Assistant with the Gallery 37 Bench & Furniture Painting program Summer 2000, Gallery 37 Chicago Public Schools Art program 1999 ? 2000. He is also the Gallery Coordinator for the South Shore Cultural Center Chicago IL.
